Sampling photosymbiosis in the Med Sea (ERC project)

The ERC team of the SymbiOCEAN project participated to a sampling campaign last week at the marine station of Villefranche-sur-Mer, France (CNRS, Sorbonne University). Using a small boat, we improved our sampling methods to better understand the distribution of photosymbiosis in the water column. Some of the collected organisms were processed on the electron microscopy platform of Nice – Centre Commun de Microscopie Appliquée (https://structures-support-recherche.univ-cotedazur.fr/structure.php?id=6&lang=FR).

We are very grateful and we warmly thank IMEV institute and EMBRC France for making this expedition possible and pleasant.

This work and expedition is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) (SymbiOCEAN project, ERC consolidator)
