We went sampling in the Mediterranean Sea at IMEV – Marine Station of Villefranche-sur-Mer (CNRS/Sorbonne University) with the teams of Fabrice Not  (CNRS Roscoff) and Manu Prakash (Standford University USA). We collected radiolarians for 3D microscopy (AtlaSymbio project) and investigated their buoyancy behaviour thanks to the Gravity Machine designed by Praksah Lab (https://gravitymachine.org/). Why these planktonic organisms with their heavy skeleton can reach and stay in surface waters?
